About the Event

Explore what it means to be Asian & American in the heart, home & kitchen. In this introductory session, we will unpack the term ‘Asian American Folk Traditions’ and set out to explore the intersection of Eastern traditions and those of the Asian diaspora. What does it mean to incorporate Asian American Folk Traditions into a Western way of living?  How do we decolonize the notion that trends such as wellness, slow-living and farm-to-table are an exclusively Western phenomena? Erin & Adrian discuss what their Asian-American heritage means to them, how our ancestors’ knowledge can be reclaimed and incorporated into our daily lives. Erin and Adrian will lead this live online event as a hands on workshop:

In this class you'll learn:

-Fundamentals and Basics of Eastern Medicine as they apply to everyday Western living with Erin Wilkins of Herb Folk.

-How can our kitchens become cultivators for wellness and a sacred space to connect with the ancestors with Adrian Chang of Mori House and My Kitsune Cafe.

- A cooking demonstation with Adrian - Steeped in Heritage: Fresh Kombu and Katsuo Dashi Broth with Seasonal Vegetables.

- An ingredients list to be provided 2 weeks prior to the class date.

- The zoom meeting link will be sent out via email 24 hours prior to class.

- A recording of the workshop will be sent out to all participants following the event (expires after 1 month).

- All sales are final.

- Please note that this is a community care class, not a professional development course.
